As you begin to learn to play guitar, you can over complicate things if you are not careful. When first starting out, you want to keep it as simple and basic as possible. The more advanced you become, the more complex you can make your lessons. But to start, there are three basic chords that can help you learn to play guitar.
What many new guitarists do not understand when they learn to play guitar is that many musicians and artists use no more than three or four chords in order to create a brilliant song. All they do is interchange the three or four chords and make different rhythms and beats with them. You can literally create hundreds of songs by paying three chords while you learn to play guitar.
For this reason, it is imperative you know the three essential chords to learn to play guitar the right way. The first chord you will need to learn is the “G” chord. This chord will have you going from the lowest or thickest string on the fret board. If you start from left to right, you will use your index, middle, and ring fingers in order to fret the chord properly.

The next chord that can do a lot for you as you begin to learn to play guitar is the “D” chord. As you learn to play guitar, you will learn the “D’ chord is played with the index, ring, and middle fingers when fretting from left to right. You want to leave the first two strings alone completely while not fretting the third string whatsoever.

The final chord to know as you learn to play guitar is the “C” chord. For “C” you will leave the first string alone completely while not fretting the fourth or last string. In order to successfully play the “C” chord you will use your ring, middle and index fingers. While it may seem complex at first, with practice you will pick up how to properly play this chord.

As you begin to learn to play guitar you need to learn these three chords, practice the transition between the three in order to play them smoothly, and fun scales. If you can learn to do these three things, you will be on your way to playing hundreds of thousands of songs.
All it takes is being able to quickly and smoothly transition from one of the chords to the next in order to create songs. You will be amazed at how many well-known songs you can play by knowing the “G,” “D,” and “C” chords.
