This guitar is a decent starter guitar for a girl who wants a guitar that looks pretty and plays suffiently well. The body shape is a little awkward playing around. There are no cut outs around the upper part of the neck so that makes playing the higher frets challenging. Otherwise the neck is fairly player friendly. The starter package deal was worth it for the gig bag and other accessories, the amp is pretty weak sounding but will do for now.

WORTH THE WAIT! I bought this guitar pack for my 6-year-old this Christmas, after reading about it on the Daisy Rock website. Miley Cyrus represented Daisy Rock guitars for girls, and is rumored to have this butterfly guitar. I haven’t played it yet, but it looks amazing! It probably plays like butter. It came nicely packed with all the accessories, and it’s all brand new. Amazon.com was the ONLY place to buy the pack, which is a HUGE bargain, compared to the guitar alone in other stores. The amp, dvd, strap, etc., is so fantastic for a budding rock star. Now, she’ll have everything she needs for at least 10 years. It’s so COLORFUL, STURDY, LIGHTWEIGHT – REALLY A BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY. And it’s a shorter scale, which makes it so easy for a young kid. At least she stands a chance at learning a musical instrument, one she will use for a lifetime! Daisy Rock and Amazon.com ROCKS! Thanks for the perfect gift.

    ON CLOSER INSPECTION:
The maple neck is CUT UP AND JAGGED, and the rosewood fingerboard is CHINKED AND SLICED UP, particularly where the hand rests. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Looks new, but upon closer inspection, looks like IT WAS USED AND ABUSED. But too close to Christmas to return. WILL TRY TO REPAIR FOR $100.00. An Expensive Guitar! Be Careful! Amazon and it’s seller may try to sneak one past you too!

This is a cute, totally girly and fantastically real guitar! My 6 year old daughter received this as a gift (with the amplifier, case and accessories) and it does exactly what it promises to do. It is the perfect size for small hands and fingers and is well crafted (at least the one she received is solid and well made; I saw other reviews that complained of the guitar’s quality but we disagree). It is easy to tune (comes with an automatic tuner) and much more sophisticated than those toy guitars. It plays well both with and without the amplifier – the sound is above average for the price point. My daugher loved the design of the guitar (the butterfly design is very girly) and is absolutely thrilled with learning to play a real instrument. After she received this, she immediately got rid of her other battery-operated plastic toy guitars. Daisy Rock makes a whole bunch of great instruments – many of which are better made and have a better sound than the Butterfly, but tend to be made for teenagers and/or adults. For my daughter’s age, this is a WONDERFUL first guitar.
